Cayambis Music Press in Europe

Latin American Classical Sheet Music

Founded by musicologist, composer and oboist John Walker, and several others, in 2013, the mission of Cayambis Music Press is to provide musicians with the finest quality music from Latin America published to the highest standards. In addition, a core value of our company is to encourage and promote the performance of this music and to make available essential resources in support of our overall corporate mission.

There are a number of ways in which we seek to accomplish this mission, including, but not limited to the following:
  • We rely on an independent editorial committee to evaluate the scores and manuscripts that we receive from composers. (To date, fewer than one third of these submissions have been approved for publication).
  • Approved scores are then meticulously prepared and reviewed multiple times by both our staff and the composer prior to publication.
  • We establish personal contact with composers throughout the Americas either through travel or by virtual means.
  • With our “Artist Program,” we develop relationships with recognized artists and ensembles to promote the performance of Latin American music.
  • We maintain a profile page for each Latin American country that includes vital resources and links to important individuals and institutions.

We have designed our website to make your selection as easy as possible. We realize that the names and titles may not yet be familiar to you, and for that reason all of our composers have provided brief biographies. In addition, clicking on the title of any composition will take you to that composition webpage, where you will find a short musical example as well as product descriptions.

Every one of our editions is meticulously prepared and laid out on high quality, Rainforest Alliance Certified, concert size (9 x 12) paper. Every piece larger than a duet includes parts as well as a full score. Printed on the inside page of every cover you will find biographical information in English and Spanish that can be freely used for program notes; just be sure to include the line, “Used by permission of Cayambis Music Press.”

Our European subsidiary is managed by Gioconda Andrango, who like our American founders, shares an avid enthusiasm and passion for Latin American classical music. Welcome to Cayambis Music Press in Europe! We join her in hoping that your experience with our website as well as with our music is entirely to your satisfaction. However, please feel free to contact Gioconda with any question you might have.
