Carlos Camacho
Panamanian musician Carlos Camacho holds a bachelor’s of music degree from Sam Houston State University and a Master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He is a frequent participant at various music festivals, such as the Eastern Music Festival and the Rome Music Festival, among others, and has won several prestigious awards, such as the Texas PAS chapter Pro-Mark Scholarship and the Thomas Craigie Wagner II Scholarship. His piece, Pi, for vibraphone and glass objects, won the Fisher Tull Composition Award in 2011. His music strongly alludes to Panamanian culture through its focus on chamber music for percussion and other instruments.
