Samuel Robles
Born in Panama in 1974 Robles obtained a bachelors degree in Communication magna cum laude at the Universidad Santa María La Antigua (1996), and in 2000 a masters degree in composition at the University of Cincinnati and in 2011 a doctorate in composition at North-West University. He has studied composition with Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon, Joel Hoffmann, Allen Otte and Hannes Taljiaard and conducting with Rodney Winther and Mark Babbitt. He has also received classes under the tutelage of Benjamin Zander of the Boston Philharmonic. Robles’s compositions have been performed by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Venezuela, Eddy Marcano, Ana Catalina Ramírez, Stuart Gerber, the Dal Niente Ensemble, Marianela Arocha, the Pacifica String Quartet, among others. Currently he is the executive director of the National System of Orchestras of Panama, and Artistic and Musical Director of the University of Panama’s symphony orchestra.
